Best all around climbing shoe
[Best all around climbing shoe]
We love rock climbing shoes, and we bet you love them too. The interesting thing for climbing lovers is that there are many styles and quality shoes that are more to choose from than ever before. Whether you want a hard-hitting shoe to climb the cliffs, a straight-laced model for long lines of limestone sports, or the comfortable kicking of a granite hike all day, we’ve got you covered with our top decisions.
1. La Sportiva Zenit
The Zenit ($ 165) is one of the new additions to La Sportiva’s up-to-date shoe list. It is a well-rounded shoe that is a perfect way for new riders who develop strategies and try different climbing styles.
Instead of aiming for specialization in a single app, Zenit is designed to do a lot of different things. Most notably, Zenit is very comfortable, very important for a beginner climber who works diligently on the basics of climbing and trails.
The Zenit weave above is soft on the skin and breathable. Instead of a tongue, this shoe has a large piece of elastic mesh that makes it easy to get in and out of the shoe and also creates an absorbent feel like a high model.
Although the Zenit surface is pulpy and flexible, the sole and midsole feel hard and support under the feet. This stamina is useful for beginners as they begin to learn to trust their feet and to stand in small places. Under the front foot, a 4mm thick Sportiva’s XS rubber layer provides sufficient friction.
The most impressive feature of the Zenit is the coloured rubber section from the heel through the shoe. We do not know why Sportiva decided to use coloured rubber on the heel, although it seems to be a solid design decision. The coloured rubber seems to have no effect on collision or performance, but Zenit is not an expert at heel hooking anyway.
Zenit is best for small feet. Climbers with wide forelegs will feel their outer toes illuminated by a simple Zenit toe box.
All in all, Zenit is a great addition to the Sportiva list. It is a beginner shoe with a few features that are often maintained in high styles.

2. Evolv Defy Velcro
Evolv Defy ($ 89) is one of the best-selling sneakers in the world. Due to the increase in mountaineering in recent years, a large proportion of the active climbers are young in sports and climb many mountains indoors. For a reasonable price, Defy gives you all the essentials you need and there are no special features which you do not need.
Defy Sole is neutral and flat, which keeps the foot in a comfortable anatomical position. Additionally, a soft anti-infective liner and a split tongue make the shoes comfortable to wear directly with a long workout session.
The 4.2mm thick TRAX rubber outsole will adhere to the requirements of long gym sessions. We used Defy regularly in the gym for a few months, and the tires kept going well as there was plenty of rubber left. While learning basic techniques, you want a shoe that prioritizes comfort and durability, and Defy fits well with this profile.
Although riders of all levels enjoy this as an athletic shoe, they are specially designed for beginners and intermediate. They are very neutral in all categories – very strong, very sensitive, respectful of organization, respectful of anointing, etc.

- Good design

3. La Sportiva Tarantulace
La Sportiva Tarantulace ($ 85) has been one of the best-selling shoes for many years. Many young hikers are attracted to Tarantulace as they buy their first hiking boots and for good reason. These shoes are dependable, inexpensive, and comfortable.
During long workouts or multi-pitch daily routes, Tarantulace stays comfortable and will not bother your feet with cramps or hot spots. These shoes are non-abrasive, and their flat, non-slip sole keeps your feet in a natural and neutral position.
In terms of this high level of luxury, Tarantulace works very well in all different climbing styles and types of stones. These shoes can do everything just enough.
For beginners and intermediate mountaineers, Tarantulace is ready to sharpen new techniques. When learning the basics of climbing, comfort and durability are the most required qualities of a shoe. And that is what Tarantulace says.

- Affordable
Cons of Best all around climbing shoe –

4. Scarpa Drago
Scarpa Drago ($ 189) has become one of the most popular climbing shoes. Enter any of the 2021 climbing competitions, and you are sure to see many athletes wearing Dragos.
There is a current trend in climbing that prefers soft and soft shoes in addition to solid options and designs. Dragos deserves some praise for starting this practice.
As one of the softest and softest riding shoes ever created, the Drago works extremely well on steep slopes and rocky outcrops in the gym. Like a rubber socket instead of a climbing shoe, the Drago lets you feel all the crystal and nubbin. For many hikers, empathy translates into self-confidence. If this is the case for you, you will enjoy Dragos.
Of course, with all of its sock-like sensations, the Dragon is finally a special climbing tool. On a high hanging rock and heavy interior stone, these shoes are compatible with the ride and can enhance your performance.
However, in long yards with small feet and a lot of strong edging, your feet will not be sufficiently supported by Dragos. As you climb, the feet get tired quickly if they are not supported by the shape of the shoe. Place Dragons on rocky cliffs – not on long, horizontal roads.
Pros of Best all around climbing shoe –
- Expensive
- Takes time while removing

5. La Sportiva Solution Comp
The original version of this shoe, La Sportiva Solution ($ 185), is one of the most flexible climbing shoes ever. With an egg-shaped heel cup, elastic mesh penetration, and split sole, the Solution opened the way for a whole class of high heeled/sturdy sports shoes.
In 2019, La Sportiva builds on the Success of Solution with the Ultra-modern Solution Comp. Although Comp is relative to the original solution and shares some important features, it creates a unique approach.
As the name suggests, the Solution Comp is specifically designed to light up a competitive environment. These days, high-rise hikes require a certain combination of edging accuracy and low foot sensitivity.
The Solution Comp, with its soft midsole, sharp-footed box, and a large piece of toe rubber grinding, may be the most competitive shoe available today. Not surprisingly, many high-profile climbers seem to wear them regularly.
The most notable difference between the original Solution and Comp red heel. Popularly, OG Solution includes a high-volume, ball-shaped heel cup. Over the years, many riders complain that the heel creates air pockets and a bad space, which reduces the efficiency of the heel hooks.
In response, Sportiva builds Comp with a low, low-volume heel. Just outside the box, the new heel fits snugly and performs very well.
Pros of Best all around climbing shoe –
- Accurate
- Very good quality
Cons of Best all around climbing shoe –
- Expensive
6. Scarpa Boostic
The beloved Scarpa Boostic ($ 180) is fully redesigned for 2021, and we think it is better than ever. Designed by rising shoe designer Heinz Mariacher, the new Boostic is one of the most impressive young professionals in existence today.
Nowadays, the rising shoe market is highly focused on the practice of ultrasoft shoes that increase sensitivity and reduce structural durability. While soft shoes are the basic need for climbing, Scapa designers understand that support is needed when generating energy in small areas.
With a strong midsole and a lot of support under the feet, Boostic backs up against the soft trend and declares itself a master of planning.
While its sole and Boostic midsole is quite solid, the top of the new model is thinner than before. Scarpa used a scrap Alcantara fabric that is resistant to scratches to keep the surface soft and sensitive without sacrificing firmness.
The unique locking system uses Velcro straps to create tension throughout the shoe. The result is an accurate, high-performance balance.
Finally, the 2021 Boostic is a unicorn in the ever-growing area of climbing shoes. Sure, it is strong, but it sounds very sensitive and very accurate compared to most thick shoes.
Pros of Best all around climbing shoe –
- Very accurate
- Supportive
Cons of Best all around climbing shoe –
- Resoling required
- Expensive
7. La Sportiva TC Pro
TC Pros ($ 190) is designed by Tommy Caldwell, a free wall designer, these famous shoes were specially developed to thrive in the icy desert of the Yosemite Valley. The TC Pros has all the features that a well-rounded climber requires, which includes a supporting midsole and high ankle protection.
Because the rise of the trad includes many different wall angles, cracked sizes, and types of rocks, each trad shoe will definitely have its strengths and weaknesses. However, the TC Pro is simply the best trading shoe on the market. It can cling to small objects, smear on slippery rock, and foot jam with confidence.
Increased cracks can provide irritation to the feet, but TC Pro’s soft Liner Sentex and a sharp upper cuff help keep the pain minimal. In fist-and-punch fissures, the high profile protects the ankle bones from cracking and scratching. In warmer climates, a breathable mesh tongue prevents sweating and extreme heat.
Pros of Best all around climbing shoe –
- Best crack climbing shoes
Cons of Best all around climbing shoe –
- Expensive
- Very specific
8. Acopa Aztec
With its small box office profile, the Acopa Aztec ($ 179) is a comfortable, tried and authentic, slim horse that climbs crack. These shoes were a crowd favourite on the Acopa list before the company stopped operating 10 years ago. Now Acopa is back, and Aztec has been redesigned and modernized.
The Aztecs are instantly free and continue to break free and easy during their first few seasons of use. While these can be equally shocking, we have found that having more room on the toe can be an asset, especially if you are climbing small cracks.
Although these shoes are very good at cracking and standing on steep slopes, we have found that they also work well on steep slopes. Even gemstones felt natural in this, especially in problems that needed to be anointed or cut.
As we climbed the small cracks, we were impressed by how well the Aztec toes shrink and slip into the cracks. Compared to other climbing commercial shoes, the Aztecs excelled at offset cracks, laybacks, and flaring seams.
The Aztec has a flat finish with just a slight drop, and the Acopa RS rubber feels particularly sticky to these shoes. When jumping on cracks or in sharpened corners, the rubber that lines the outside of the entire shoe adds more friction and promotes more confidence during critical movements.
Pros of Best all around climbing shoe –
- Versatile
- Comfortable
Cons of Best all around climbing shoe –
- Stretches over time

9. Acopa Merlin
Just outside the box, these Acopa shoes are obviously sturdy and durable. Compared to modern stone shoes as modern as possible, Merlin ($ 189) is bigger and stronger.
Generally, this shoe has an old-school flavour – it is very supportive with a thick layer of rubber outside the toe. These shoes are completely different from rubber socks like Scarpa Drago or La Sportiva Solution Comp.
Although we were initially sceptical about the appearance of the thick and sturdy shoes, their ability to climb up quickly impressed us. We tested these shoes at sports halls on the North California coast, and they were able to handle small areas polished with water easily.
Because the Merlins are very sturdy, they are the ideal shoes for technical adjustment in a straight line to the cliffs. Even when you apply a lot of weight and strength to the toes of these shoes, the arch of the foot is supported, and the heel does not shrink at all. The extra support keeps the feet from slipping and getting tired.
With so many layers of materials that make up Merlin, it’s hard to feel the small amount of space when you use them. These are not the most sensitive shoes. Although they have a modern split sole, the foot does not have all the movement within Merlin.
Pros of Best all around climbing shoe –
- Best fitting
- Useful in sport climbing
Cons of Best all around climbing shoe –
- Expensive
- Not much durable
10. Tenaya Mastias
The precise and aggressive Tenaya Mastias ($ 199) is a pocket powerhouse. With an asymmetrical profile and a distinct toe, these shoes allow you to pierce your toes into small pockets with precision and confidence.
We checked out the Mastias at sports venues covered in a slippery American American Fork Canyon, Utah. Even in thin pockets with one and two fingers, a sharp toe allowed us to exert a powerful force on the edges of the toe and to flow in a soft, vibrant sequence.
Inside the Mastias, the inner mesh liner is as high as the sole of the foot and limits movement within the shoe. A hot moulded heel cup adds a secure and accurate heel hook structure.
Mastia is very attractive, but they are not as flat as the Scarpa Dragos, and they provide enough support to keep your feet from getting sore on the long, hard-working pitch.
Suddenly out of the box, the Mastias are quite relaxed. Compared to other high-top athletic shoes with rocky outfits, Mastia requires very little rest.
These shoes can be worn for long periods on the Moon board or on the rock without having to take them off and take a break. Although the closure system is respectable, it is difficult to customize the fit of various parts of a shoe with just one belt.
Pros of Best all around climbing shoe –
- Good for thin cracks
Cons of Best all around climbing shoe –
- Cant customize the fit
